City of Moreton Bay Outdoor Gallery

Half a Million Imaginations

Blue Sky View has been appointed Curatorial Lead for the City of Moreton Bay Outdoor Gallery.

Titled Half a Million Imaginations, this ambitious program positions public art as civic infrastructure, embedding artistic practice and cultural storytelling across multiple sites throughout the region.

The project tests how public art can operate at civic scale without losing local specificity, and how artist-led engagement can meaningfully inform work across an entire city rather than a single site.

The program responds to Moreton Bay’s scale, diversity and layered histories. Artists are invited to work deeply with place and people, with artist-led community workshops informing site-responsive works that reflect everyday experience, cultural memory and future aspirations.

Operating across multiple locations rather than a single destination, the Outdoor Gallery functions as a distributed exhibition, encouraging discovery, repeat visitation and shared ownership across the city.

The final artworks will include a range of highly visible, site-responsive works combining image, text and moving media, delivered through large-scale billboards, projection and screen-based forms.

Blue Sky View is pleased to be working with the City of Moreton Bay Cultural Activation Team. Our curatorial team includes Dr John Waldron (Lead Curator), Imelda Miller (Specialist Curator & Cultural Advisor – Australian South Sea Islander), Olivia Robinson (Specialist Curator & Cultural Advisor – First Nations), and Susana Waldron (Curatorial Assistant & Multicultural Advisor).

The Outdoor Gallery brings together 18 artists working across six sites, representing a broad range of practices, cultural perspectives and creative approaches:
Bruce Ellem · Chloe Bennett · Claudio Kirac · Darren Blackman · Desirai Saunders · Dylan Bolger · Hayden Dewar · Jody Haines · Lana de Jager · Lauren Edmonds · Man&Wah · Manuel Moreno Guirao · Martin Edge · Phoebe Sheehy · Prita Tina Yeganeh · Si Yi Shen · Tamika Grant-Iramu · Zoe Porter

This inaugural exhibition is funded through the SEQ City Deal Public Art Initiatives. Following its conclusion, the Cultural Activation team will continue to develop and deliver Outdoor Gallery exhibitions on an annual basis through to 2036.

The artwork is in development with the first iteration scheduled for late 2026.
